Bags built to
outlast the trend.

The Everyday Tote is unlined natural jute, stitched with cotton thread, closed with a metal zip. We loaded one with groceries and weights to 35 kg and the handles held. There is no plastic in it.

Construction

The parts that fail first, made strongest.

A cheap tote never tears in the middle of the panel. It goes at the handle, at the seam, at the closure. That's where the work went — and where these photographs are pointed.

Bar-tacked, not glued

The rope passes through a doubled band of jute and is locked with a cross-stitched bar-tack, so a heavy load pulls against the whole panel rather than one seam. We loaded a production bag to 35 kg — 75 lb — and the handles held.

Nothing behind the weave

Open it and you see jute, and only jute. No laminate, no plastic film. It means the bag isn't wipe-clean — and it also means there's no hidden plastic in a bag sold as natural.

A metal zip

Metal teeth on a bound tape, stitched into the hem across the opening. Groceries stay in and nothing tips out. It's also the one part of this bag that won't return to the soil, and we'd rather say so than round up to "compostable".

One bag we'd carry ourselves.

Most reusable totes fail in the same three places: the handle tears from the panel, the open top spills, the base collapses. This one was built at those three points.

Everyday Tote shown naturally with 17-inch length, 14-inch height, and 9-inch width dimensions

The Everyday Tote

Sized for a full grocery run — a week's shop, a farmers' market haul, a laptop and a lunch. It stands on its own when you set it down, and the zip means nothing tips out on the walk home.

Three more, for when the tote is the wrong shape.

Bottle carriers and gift bags, built on the same jute and the same cotton rope. Their clear windows now use bio-attributed PVC, which uses renewable-attributed feedstock. It is still plastic and is not biodegradable, so we say so clearly.

Double Bottle Bag, clear PVC-front view

Double Bottle Bag

8″ L × 13″ H × 5″ D

A centre divider keeps two bottles apart so they don't knock together on the walk home. Cotton rope handles, reinforced base, and a clear front so the label shows.

Clear bio-attributed PVC window — still plastic and not biodegradable.
Single Bottle Bag, clear angled view

Single Bottle Bag

5″ L × 14″ H × 4″ D

A slim column sized for one standard wine bottle or a tall flask. Boxed base so it stands on a counter, and a clear front so a good label does the talking.

Clear bio-attributed PVC window — still plastic and not biodegradable.
Gift Bag, clear PVC-front view

Gift Bag

8″ L × 5.5″ H × 5″ D

A small structured box for a candle, a jar, a bar of soap. Two versions: a clear window that shows the gift, or a solid jute panel that takes a printed logo cleanly.

Window version has a clear bio-attributed PVC panel. The solid version does not.
What's actually inside

The part most brands leave out.

Every bag here is mostly plant fibre. The Everyday Tote and solid Gift Bag have no plastic window; the other styles use bio-attributed PVC. Here is exactly where the line falls.

*The Everyday Tote is the only bag in this range with no plastic in it. Jute body, cotton rope handles, cotton thread — every fibre in it will biodegrade. The metal zip is the only part that won't return to the soil, and we'd rather name it than call the bag "100% compostable" and hope nobody checks. The bottle bags and windowed Gift Bag now use clear bio-attributed PVC. Renewable feedstock is attributed to its production through a mass-balance approach, but the PVC itself is not biodegradable. That is why we describe the jute and cotton components as biodegradable rather than the complete windowed bag.
